The Curriculum
Dr. J. Ron Nelson
is a nationally recognized early education research professor and developed
the curriculum used inside Looney Tunes ClickN READ® Phonics.
Designed to be used in homes and schools, Looney Tunes Phonics incorporates
the research based curriculum and instructional design of the highly
acclaimed ClickN READ® Phonics. The Looney Tunes gang entertains your child
and kids will delight in meeting the new character Professor Wizbot, the
on-screen instructor in
Looney Tunes Phonics,
who teaches one click at a time®.

All phonics lessons begin here. Children learn all of the letter sounds and
their corresponding letter shapes required to master reading as well as
spelling and keyboarding skills.
Letter Sounds Selection
Throughout the 100 lessons, 61 phonics letter sounds are systematically
introduced and practiced.
Spelling Letter Sounds
Children learn keyboarding skills by typing sounds, words and complete
sentences.

Next, letter sounds are systematically blended into beginning, middle and
ending sounds in words. Letter sounds are then used in word blending
exercises, teaching how to decode individual sounds and how to combine sounds to
create words.
Beginning, Middle and Ending Sounds in Words
Your child will learn which letter, from a set of letters shown, matches the
beginning, middle, or ending sound in 188 presentations of recited words.
Word Blending
Your child will learn how to blend separate sounds together to form the
sound of 357 individual words.
The Reading Zone uses the letter sounds and word blends previously learned,
to form complete sentences and short stories. The following exercises are
presented:
Sight Words
Your child will earn to read the most commonly used words in the English
language, also referred to as "high frequency sight words."
Spelling Sight Words
Your child will learn to read and spell words from the Sight Words exercise
using the keyboard.
Word Families
Word families are groups of words that are closely related enough to form a
'family'. Your child will learn hundreds of words belonging to dozens of
word families.
Word Endings
Your child will learn the most commonly used word endings such as "s", "ed",
"ing", "y", and more.
Silent E Rule
Your child will learn how to identify words that contain a "silent e" and
learn their proper pronunciation.
Making Sentences
Your child will learn to read and construct sentences using nearly 400
different words.
Sentence Dictation
Your child will learn to read and spell complete sentences using the
keyboard.
Prefixes
Your child will learn the meaning of prefixes, how to use them and the
definitions of the words they are used with. Examples of the many prefixes
taught are "pre", "re", "sub", "dis" and "non."
Suffixes
Your child will learn the meaning of suffixes, how to use them and
definitions of the words they are used with. Examples of the many prefixes
taught are "ful", "less", "ure", "ive" and "ion."
Story Reading
The short stories include letter sounds, words and other elements previously
taught. Your child will read single sentence to multiple sentence stories,
equaling a small library of early reading books.

This exercise builds the automatic decoding skills needed to master reading.
The final exercise in every lesson is the Speed Chamber, where all letter
sounds and words taught from prior lessons are reviewed and practiced.
Letter Sound Review
Presented in random order, your child will quickly learn to identify letter
shapes for letter sounds.
Word Review
Presented in a random order, your child will quickly learn to identify words
that match the word sounds.
