One such site that offers all of the above is Math Goodies, a free math help site that launched in 1998 with interactive math instruction and free online homework help. Currently the site has more than 500 pages of activities for students, educators and parents featuring:

1. Self-Paced Learning

  • Math Goodies interactive lessons, puzzles and worksheets are self-paced learning modules ideal for students of all ages and abilities.
  • Whenever possible, exercises are drawn from the real world and each set of exercises provides students with immediate feedback.
  • Detailed exercise solutions are included for students who need step-by-step solutions.
  • Each unit of lessons includes a page of interactive practice exercises, as well as learning objectives, classroom activities, and project ideas.
  • The site includes free online demos and home users can get instant downloads for learning on their own time.

2. Interactive Lessons & Games

  • Each core lesson is an in-depth learning module that provides examples, explanations, definitions, illustrations, a summary and exercises.
  • Math games are unique and engaging and designed to be a fun activity for learning specific math concepts.
  • Games include Integer Football, The Interactive Factor Tree, Percent Goodies, and Probability Goodies.
  • The games are multi-media based and include animated movements to illustrate specific concepts and make them come alive.

3. Supplemental Materials

  • Math Goodies worksheets are designed for grades 4 through 9.
  • The problems on the worksheets are designed to be challenging, not repetitive.
  • The Math Goodies CD includes a total of 124 lessons divided into 13 units.
  • Each unit consists of a related group of core lessons, a set of practice exercises, and a set of challenge exercises.
  • For each unit there is a corresponding set of puzzles and worksheets and answer sheets.

4. Homework Help

  • Students can use the forums to post questions about math problems broken down by math level and content area.
  • Students can work together to solve problems through the forum area.
  • Teachers and parents also have a forum to discuss both specific and general areas of math.
