Another outdoor adventure is available at Hershey's ZooAmerica. Milton Hershey began this zoo in the early 1900's in an effort to share his private animal collection with the Hershey town community. .

The zoo has evolved into a North American wildlife park situated on 11 acres in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Visitors to ZooAmerica see over 200 animals representing 70 species as they walk through 5 different biomes:

1. The North Woods depicts Canada's evergreen forests and tundra. It includes wolves, porcupines, snowy owls and peregrine falcons.
2. The Eastern Woodlands contains wildlife native to the eastern deciduous forests like white-tailed deer, otters, raccoons, and black bears.
3. The Big Sky Country features inhabitants of the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains including bison, mountain lions, golden eagles, and prairie dogs.
4. The Grassy Waters is an environment similar to the Florida Everglades and includes armadillos and alligators.
5. The Cactus Community houses animals native to the Arizona Sonoran Desert like roadrunners, lizards, snakes, tortoises, kit foxes, and vampire bats.

ZooAmerica offers educational programs that include live animal demonstrations, artifacts, and informative discussions with docents. The zoo is open year-round and offers many special events. You can take a virtual tour of ZooAmerica and learn about many of its residents by visiting the website at:
