I wanted to take some time this week and really collect my thoughts on how much the Bootcamp helped "de-mystify" homeschooling for me and how it truly gave me the framework, tools and confidence to feel like, in a very do-able way, I can do this !! I am totally new to homeschooling and prior to the Bootcamp, I felt very anxious about how I was going to give my 13 year old son everything he needed for his 8th grade year. I knew in my heart homeschooling was the right change for us after 9 years in the same Waldorf school, but I had no idea where to start. The way you organized the class, provided such wonderful workbooks (including all the great audio links and resources) really empowered me to get going. After completing the Bootcamp, I feel organized, we have an exciting year planned, and most importantly, my son is excited and sees that his goals and interests are being given top priority. Also, I know that the Bootcamp saved me a fortune in money I could have wasted buying a "curriculum out of a box". Rebecca, you and the other parents in our class were so reassuring that a one-size-fits-all curriculum probably wouldn't end up working and that I should trust that along the way, I would find the resources we needed. That was exactly the case, and we've ended up with a plan we are all excited about--all without having wasted a lot of money on curriculum we probably would have discarded by October. Rebecca, you are so kind, encouraging and upbeat. I really appreciated your support and true faith in all of us that we could have just what we needed in terms of homeschooling, if we just did our homework, trusted the process of learning and discovery, and listened to what our kids told us they wanted to learn about. Thanks so much and I feel so lucky to have discovered Rebecca and the Bootcamp class PRIOR to beginning homeschooling.
