National Geographic Bee Deadline fast approaching

The 2010 National Geographic Bee is fast approaching. The registration date has been extended to December 11, 2009 instead of the earlier date of October 15, 2009. However, after October 15th, the group registration fee will increase from $70 to $90. .

This competition is opened to all 4th â€" 8th graders, who did not reached the age of 15 prior to September 1, 2009. Homeschoolers can compete via Homeschool Associations that are registered with the National Geographic Bee. Schools from all 50 U.S. states, the U.S. territories, and the U.S. Department of Defense schools may participate in the Bee.

The National Geographic Website states: “Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography.”
