www.byshayne.com is a young company committed to providing educational and fun books to children of all ages.

The small publishing house was started by Shayne Hood, a work-at-home mom who began her career as an animator.  She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in filmmaking at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California.  Her first animation job was as an assistant effects animator for the feature FernGully: The Last Rainforest.  She has contributed to feature films, television, and CD-ROMs as an effects animator, character animator, and storyboard artist.

Shayne’s best productions came in the forms of a son and a daughter, both of whom are home schooled.  Her Masters Thesis, a short animated film about a little girl and her pet giraffe, was based on her first book Jeremy Can’t Drink Milk which she wrote for her children.  This delightful, 3 ˝ minute film is now available for purchase and the book is available as well. Watch for the further adventures of Jeremy and his friends. This series will gently teach the youngest reader about ‘consideration,’ ‘kindness,’ and ‘respect.’

Love of animation and love for raising and educating her children inspired Shayne to produce The Original Let’s Animate which teaches children of all ages about animation as an art form.  It also allows them to make their own short animation with an opportunity to have their work put to VHS tape or DVD. This kit is great for the home schooled child with creative tendencies. Your child may create his or her own animation independently or work collaboratively with other students or adults. This simple to use kit includes 400 sheets of pre-punched animation paper, a peg bar for registration (like those used by professional animators), and an instructional booklet.

Because www.byshayne.com does not link to any other sites (unless a purchase is made), the youngest internet user may navigate the site. There is even a section with drawings that can be printed out and used for coloring. And don’t forget to view the featured animation turned in by those who have purchased The Original Let’s Animate.
