Hank Jeannel and Summer Senn are full-time, online OCO juniors who live in Ohio and Tennessee respectively. They recently participated in a King’s College dual-credit course about the fantasy literature of C.S. Lewis. Both students received rave reviews from the professor, Dr. Bruce L. Edwards, and were asked to publish on his website: The C.S. Lewis Review. Hank and Summer are both on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll List and are officers on OCO’s Student Council.
Lynsey Kenogo is a Kenyan living in Uganda who discovered Oaks Christian by searching for American Christian schools online. Lynsey has spent a year working with Oaks Christian Online School while preparing to come to the main campus as a junior in the 2014-2015 school year. Through her work in the online World Cultures and Human Geography course, Lynsey has learned much about the African continent’s history and geography that she did not know before. Lynsey has a passion for the arts, fashion, music and acting and is looking forward to taking advantage of all the main campus has to offer next year.
Alex Howell lives in T’bilisi, Georgia, with his father who is an advisor to the Georgian Armed Forces. Alex has traveled often with his family during his dad’s 30-year military career. As an OCO sophomore, Alex has enjoyed the college-preparatory coursework, the Christian emphasis and getting to know friends all over the world through the online student council meetings. Alex hopes to attend college in the United States as a computer programmer and is thankful for OCO’s college counseling program to help prepare him for that goal.
Gloria Holzapfel has been horseback riding for only 4 years and jumping for only 3 1/2, but she regularly rides as a hunter-jumper in the 15-17 age division and jumps at 3 ft. Gloria also works as a Barn Manager at Foxfield and is part of Foxfield’s Drill Team, an internationally renowned drill routine group that does not use the aid of saddles, stirrups, bits or bridles. She also performs in equitation, where the rider and her ability to perform in rhythm with the horse and make the riding look effortless is considered another form of classic English horse riding. Gloria enjoys working with OCO, so she has time to take her riding to the next level.
Taylor and Jack Hein are both student athletes from Fruita, CO. Taylor is a freshman and competitive soccer player that has recently been invited to the Colorado Youth-14 Olympic Development Program. Her older brother Jack Hein, a sophomore, also attends OCO and plays competitive lacrosse on the Altitude Stickness travel team in the Youth-17 Gold bracket. Mom, Christi, once taught on the Oaks Christian main campus but now teaches at the college level in Colorado as well as teaching AP English Language and Composition for Oaks Christian Online School.
