The Reading Game Contents

Your child can be reading in a week with “The Reading Game”!
It starts with a simple fast action-memory card game that teaches five words at a time.
Picture flashcards reinforce words learned through game play with simple phrases and introduce capitalization and punctuation.
Each of the content rich storybooks is told using only the 30 words learned through game play.
This staged learning format ensures success and no frustration – and builds confidence and enjoyment in reading!
On completing the series, the student has a reading vocabulary of 180 words, many of them Dolch and High Frequency words and will have successfully read six storybooks all on their own.
The Reading Game was created by “Wordly Wise” author Kenneth Hodkinson, and meets Common Core Standards for Language and Literacy Arts.

We listened to parent and teacher feedback from the very successful, almost out of stock,1st edition of “The Reading Game” and are now going forward with a second print run which will incorporate this feedback. In this updated, enhanced, 2nd edition we introduce a staged learning format with the addition of picture flashcards to help the child transition from the stand-alone words in the memory card game to short phrases incorporating those words, which introduce capitalization and punctuation, which is reinforced through the storybooks.

The goal of this campaign is to build confidence and enjoyment in reading and we wanted to make sure we are achieving that goal for all children; that is why we are partnering with First Book on this IndieGoGo Cause Campaign to donate as many copies of the new game to schools and children in need through this non-profit. First Book donates millions of books each year to disadvantaged children through schools and other educational programs. The more we raise, the more copies First Book will receive for distribution to over 50,000 schools and programs in the areas of our country that are most in need of reading materials.

On the shelves, the new game will retail for $34.95 and will be available this December.
