How to Beat the Homeschool Blues
It’s officially fall! And while many homeschoolers are looking forward to welcoming the season, others are dealing with an uninvited guest: the homeschool blues. When the excitement of the new homeschool year wears off, it can be difficult to keep everyone’s enthusiasm going, including your own.

Getting everyone back on track isn’t as difficult as you think. After all, as a parent, you’re probably already the cheerleader that keeps everyone going. But just in case, here are a few tips to combat those blues:

  • Field trip time! Many museums, zoos, and theaters offer homeschool days at discounted rates. An impromptu field trip will be a welcome treat and put everyone in a good mood.
  • Embrace the season! The great outdoors is calling with near-perfect weather conditions. Instead of doing school work inside, head to a picnic bench in a park, or visit a local farmer’s market or fall festival to find some delicious seasonal treats.
  • Try unit studies! Change things up with unit studies. Students will be excited to steer their learning in a new direction with different themes and topics. Plus this month, Time4Learning has a limited-time special offer for a literature-themed unit study when you sign up that you’ll want to take advantage of.

Whether you’re new to homeschooling or you’ve been at it for a while, the homeschool blues can put a damper on everyone’s mood. However, being flexible and trying something new including a change in your schedule or even a new curriculum, could be all it takes to boost morale and get everyone back on track.
