Homeschoolers in North Carolina participated in the second annual “Come to Life Museum”; an event in which students in full costume tell visitors about their character and their impact on history. Eleven historical figures were represented by homeschool students ranging in age from 13 to 18.
The event was sponsored by the Student Government Association of HOME (Homeschoolers Organized for Ministry and Encouragement). The goal of the event was to bring reading to life and hopefully spark curiosity enough to encourage students to read more about the characters they saw.
Visitors saw Moses, Pocahontas, Princess Diana, Danica Patrick and others. Free books were offered at the event.
I think this is a great idea and sounds like a lot of fun. I would love for one of our local groups to organize something like this. This is why I share these stories. It is a way to connect with homeschoolers around the globe and to exchange ideas.
If you have an event you’d like to share, please send the details to [email protected].
