First Day of Winter

This year, the first day of winter, or the Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere will be December 21.  On this day, because of the earth’s tilt, the Northern Hemisphere will be leaning farther away from the sun than at any other time during the year, and it will be the shortest day of the year.

Winter lasts from the winter solstice  to the vernal equinox in March.

Following, is a poem about winter,  by Arimoko Konshei

Winter is cold

Winter is brittle

Winter is dark

Winter is long

Winter is here

Winter is gone

How is that possible?

It seems so far away in the Summer

It seems so close in autumn

Why? How?

It is winter

Poems are fun and fun learning is forever learning!
