An August 11th article in the N.Y. Times states that children as young as three have a “number sense” that may be correlated with mathematical aptitude. “Number sense” involves an “intuition–not involving counting–about the concepts of more and less. It exists in all people, including infants…..”
Researchers have known for quite some time that there is a correlation between number sense and mathematical ability in adolescents.
