Wow! May has two important holidays for homeschooling Moms. Mother’s Day is on May 12th, but even sooner, on May 7th, is National Teacher Day! So, find a way to celebrate!
What? You weren’t aware of this holiday? It does exist! In 2009, Congressmen from Illinois and Florida introduced the bill that designated the first Tuesday of the first full week of May to be, National Teacher Day.
Since this is clearly a fairly new and little known holiday, with no definite ways/traditions to celebrate (I think a parade would be appropriate), I suggest we come up with our own individual ways to acknowledge the day. Perhaps your students can make you lunch. Or maybe you can treat yourself to that book you’ve wanted for a while.
It’s National Teacher Day–do something fun!
And remember–fun learning is forever learning!
