Why our Facebook followers agree that “Homeschooling is a Gift”!

Taken from’s virtual magazine, November 2013 edition

I get to see my boys learn! My son tied his shoe by himself the other day and I got to see it! They are also learning to read and I get to teach them. Priceless!  There are lots more reasons that we homeschool. Big one is God called us to train up our children in the way they should go.

Not every day is perfect, but it is a gift to be with my kids every day and watch them learn and explore at their own pace.

My husband has been an over-the-road truck driver most of our married life and then worked 2 weeks on and 1 week off in N.D. Homeschooling has been a blessing because we can take time off when Dad is home. Now he is working a local route BUT it is 5 hours from home. Because we homeschool, we can leave Friday after lunch to visit with him and come back Monday around lunch. If our children were in an institutionalized school, we would not spend as much time with Dad.  School is not missed because each of the children have headsets where they listen to literature or math songs, we are starting a music appreciation class tomorrow, and my 16 yo is getting in his mandatory driving hours to get his driver’s license.

Homeschooling has allowed me to know a side of my daughter that is a true gift from God. To see her get joy from learning is exciting. Seeing her grow and develop as an intelligent, critical thinker is priceless. Children thrive so much more without the distractions that happen within the traditional school setting.

When we lived in VA and my husband worked a 2nd shift, he would not have been able to see our girls except on weekends if they had been in school. Currently, living in Germany, it gives us the flexibility to travel in the off seasons and so history has become a real subject for our girls as we have been able to visit and see amazing things!
