8 Harmless April Fools’ Day Jokes – This is a guest blog post from Alpha Omega Publications.

When conducted in the spirit of fun, pulling a harmless prank or two on April Fools’ Day can give your homeschool family a good, healthy laugh. Check out this list of eight clever jokes that will catch your homeschooler off guard and keep your family giggling throughout the day.

  1. Breakfast Brain Freeze

Put a bowl of your child’s favorite cereal and milk in the freezer overnight. When you serve it in the morning, watch him try to figure out why he can’t scoop up the cereal with a spoon.

  1. Soap Sans Suds

Paint a bar of soap with clear fingernail polish and let it dry. Place it in your soap dish and prepare to answer questions about why the soap won’t work when your youngster tries to lather up before meal time.

  1. Snack Switcheroo

Carefully open the bottom of a bag of your child’s favorite snack and replace the treat inside with an equally liked snack. Reseal the bag with a piece of clear tape and watch the expression on your child’s face as she opens the bag at snack time.

  1. Colored Waterfall

Use a cotton swab to coat the inside of your bathtub faucet with gel food dye for an unexpected burst of color from the faucet at bath time.

  1. Computer Screen Flip-Flop

When your homeschooler sits down to start her computer-based schoolwork, she won’t have a clue how to go about it when all the icons on her desktop appear upside down.

On a PC, hit CTRL + ALT + down arrow to flip the screen upside down. The same combination with the up arrow will flip it right side up again.

On a Mac, open system preferences and click “display” while simultaneously holding down CTRL + Option. A new menu titled “rotation” should appear with the option to flip and save the display.

  1. Magical Milk

Place a drop or two of food coloring in the bottom of a bowl and pour your child’s favorite cereal on top. Pour milk into the bowl in front of your child for a colorful breakfast surprise.

  1. Special Delivery

Place a fake lizard inside your mailbox and ask your youngster to do you the favor of grabbing the mail.

  1. Cardboard Cake

Frost and decorate an empty cereal box like a cake and ask your homeschooler to help you cut and serve it. Be sure to have a real cake on hand for when he catches on to your trick.
