Does any one know of or have any experience with an accredited online high school with a program for gifted students or a program with honors classes that still is accepting students for the 2017-2018 school year, and has tuition under about $8000 (or a financial need/scholarship program that can still.be applied for)? Also, a Christian program would be preferable, but I would still appreciate posts about non-Christian schools. I'm interested in the 10th grade.
Thank you

Has anyone tried Bridgeway Academy or Northstar Academy for high school?

Igra,

What state do you live in? That could open up several opportunities. Be careful about some of those paid-for "online accredited" programs. First, accreditation only carries so much weight for homeschoolers since, in most states, parents issue a diploma anyway and they're not "accredited." Second, COLLEGES care about A) your child's high school transcripts, B) their GPA, and (above all) C) their SAT/ACT scores. They don't even care about the transcript as much as the SAT/ACT scores because different schools are different (what's "Honors" at one school may be considered regular work at another school, for example).

What you should care more about is what the college your daughter wants to attend requires...but a lot of people new to homeschooling assume that an "accredited diploma" is what matters the most.

It isn't. :)

But unfortunately, there are schools and programs out there specifically looking for those new to homeschooling and they tell you that you NEED all these things they have to offer when the reality is that you do not need what they have to offer in the first place. :)
