Global Village School

Resource Categories

Global Village School is an international, progressive, accredited, K-12 homeschooling program. You can enroll in K-8 or HS to utilize individualized teacher services or order curriculum only to strike out on your own. Many of K-8 families who are new to homeschooling enroll for the first year or two, then unschool or homeschool on their own with GVS K-8 curriculum guides until high school when the need for an umbrella school, record keeping, and an accredited high school diploma become important.

The student population is diverse: home to actors, athletes, those with learning differences, activists, those dealing with anxiety or depression, families traveling or living aboard, and kids who otherwise don’t fit the mold of traditional schooling. GVS teachers and staff are experienced, creative, and adept at guiding students in taking ownership of their educational opportunities, responsibilities, and achievements. GVS even serves some adults who feel their own schools failed to provide them with a global perspective that is much needed in our hyper-connected world. The Global Village School family is united by a global perspective and holistic approach to education: student-centered, with a focus on learning styles, collaboration, exploration, and flexibility. Students are encouraged to lead authentic and meaningful lives, so they leave school feeling confident in their ability to understand and make an impact on the world.

The Whole Child, Healthy Planet K-8 curriculum guides and high school homeschool diploma courses integrate peace, justice, and diversity studies with the core subjects. Students can earn credit for many different life experiences: participating in cultural events, performing in community theater productions, pursuing a career in athletics or the film industry, or starting their own business. Global Village youth study anatomy and botany, work on political campaigns, study science at local national parks and wilderness areas, write novels and screenplays, learn more about their strengths and weaknesses, heal from traumatic experiences, or dive into an area of interest to become an expert in it. Many Global Village students get a head start on college by enrolling in community college courses while they continue working towards their high school diplomas. The world is their classroom.
