Is Online Drivers Ed right for your child?
Many teens have one word for driver's education: boring. When I took drivers
ed, I gave up my Saturdays for two months. They used scare-tactics, dull
material, and at times, even taught us dated information. The worse part was
that I somehow found a way to tune out after the first two hours. Nowadays,
online drivers ed classes offer teens a fun and interactive way to take drivers
ed. They can take the course from the comfort of their own home—making it an
ideal solution for homeschooled teens. |

Keystone - Because Results Matter
Once a parent realizes that there are differences among the
long distance options, the big question arises, how does one
go about choosing a long distance educational program? Does
the parent look at cost? Probably. At the curriculum? Most
definitely. But how about looking at the results/success of
the program? Aren't results and success an appropriate gauge
for judging just about anything, especially a school?
Keystone National High School (for grades 6-12) would like
you to look at their results. |

Preparing Homeschoolers for College Admission
As parents, we want our children to aim high and to believe
the goal of attending college is achievable. To help our
children meet this goal, we sacrifice to provide the
opportunities that will allow them to attend college. We
invest in their futures monetarily, we help them with
homework, we advise them, we entice them, and we push them.
We do all that we can to maximize our children's
opportunities! |

High School Literature - An Important And Enjoyable
Subject To Share With Your Teenager
Why is the study of high school literature so important? Of
course, we want our children to be well read, and hopefully
to enjoy reading in general. But at the high school level,
perhaps reading is secondary to the resulting thought
processes. When a student reads, a student also thinks. The
critical and creative thought processes, discussions, and
debates that result when a student and teacher analyze and
interpret a piece of literature are boundless. Doing this
within the family unit allows the parents the ability to
interject their feeling, beliefs, values and ideas, making
the entire process a learning and bonding experience.
Following, are suggestions that will make this process an
enjoyable one for you and your family. |

High School
Homeschooling FAQ's
While still firmly committed to the idea of homeschooling
and the choices it provides, many parents begin to second
guess their decision as their child approaches the high
school age. Some believe they are not qualified to teach the
challenging subject matter, others worry that their child
will have difficulty being accepted into a college without a
traditional high school diploma, and still others worry that
high school is a key time for youth to begin to socialize
with other young adults in a formalized setting. |

Homeschoolers
Today's Colleges Want You
In the early 1980's, mass media jumped on the news that
Grant, the eldest homeschooled son of Micki and David
Colfax, gained entrance to Harvard University. Grant's
appearance on The Tonight Show marked the beginning of the
media's fascination with the idea that young men and women
who never attended school could get into some of the
nation's most prestigious universities and colleges. Today,
homeschoolers moving on to college has become a matter of
course, so there's no reason to miss the rewards of
homeschooling, even during the high school years, if your
child wants to attend college. |

Financial Help for
Homeschooling Support Groups
Homeschooling has always been more of a grassroots endeavor
which lets families stay true to their philosophies by
allowing them to create individualized learning environments
and educational programs to meet their own needs. It also
means that like-minded individuals can collaborate to
improve the process through supportive groups without the
bureaucracy associated with traditional school
organizations. |

Awesome Test Taking Strategies
Most states require
some achievement testing on a scheduled basis and
many homeschooling families use standardized tests
as an evaluation tool. Either way, standardized
achievement tests are a part of homeschooling and
just like traditional students, homeschoolers need
to know how best to succeed. |
