Daren and Kath Denholm are joining us today from South Africa… and I have to say – they are pretty amazing! They have not only competed many times in the World Memory Championships but also work tirelessly every day to help students and adults understand how to improve their memory. Daren is the only person in the world to compete in all 6 world memory championships from 2006 – 2011 and be considered the Highest Ranked Competitor from Africa and the Southern Hemisphere. In fact, Daren went from a struggling student almost failing at university, to being referred to as “The Memory Guy” and being able to memorize a deck of playing cards in as little as 80 seconds. Amazing!
Kath shares 3 practical ways that she applies this strategy to teaching her children:
- Equip yourself as the parent with these strategies. You’ll become passionate about it because you’ll realize that you’ve changed.
- Start early with your child. The earlier the better. As soon as they can read and write.
- It’s not easy. Not a quick fix. Consistency. It takes time. There is no way to do this quickly.
