Ivy Kids Kits Homeschool Curriculum Review

I was sent an Ivy Kids Kit to use with my son in exchange for an honest review.
The kit we received was built around the Caldecott Honor Book “Blueberries for Sal” by Robert McCloskey. Immediately, I was blown away by the contents of this kit. I’m not sure what I expected, but as I dug through the box, I couldn’t believe everything in there. On top of all of that — the box is personalized for your child with their name!

The box included:
● A copy of the book, “Blueberries for Sal”
● Two printables for sentence writing with my son’s name printed on them (He loved this personalized touch!)
● A bookmark with thought-provoking comprehension questions
● A Venn Diagram activity comparing Sal and Little Bear
● A Blueberry preserves activity which included paint and a paintbrush

● A Find-and-Cover language arts activity

We had so much fun with this kit. We took a couple of days to work through the contents, but we could have easily gotten enough learning to last a week or two in our homeschool. My son loved all the games and activities, and the Little Bear stuffie was our constant homeschool companion for a while. The activities easily kept his attention, incited questions that continued the learning, and were a lot of fun.

I loved the variety of activities, the fact that all of the materials were included, and the detailed instructions. It was so handy to not have to hunt down materials or guess at how the games were played.

One of my favorite things was the printable included with the activity guides that gave ingredients and directions to make a blueberry pie and blueberry preserves. My son loves to help in the kitchen, so anytime we can incorporate baking or cooking is a win. I am a big proponent of “sneaky learning”: let them have so much fun that they don’t even realize they’re learning. These kits fit that bill perfectly. For the sheer amount of learning that can be accomplished through the contents of these kits, they’re definitely worth the cost.
