Getting a Fresh Start for the New Homeschool Year

Has the new year inspired you toward homeschool greatness? Or has winter break left you hanging? Perhaps you just need a new dose of inspiration to get you motivated. While we welcome the break, it’s hard to get back into the swing of things. Don’t miss these simple tips to get your groove going again!

Rearrange Your Homeschool Space

You know that feeling you get when you settle in and rearrange a room? Wouldn’t it be great to have that same wonderful feeling in your homeschool space? No matter where you homeschool, the space needs to be functional, and sometimes this means rearranging furniture to suit your needs. As the kids grow older and you accumulate more items, you’ll need a place to keep those things. It’s amazing how giving your homeschool supplies a functional organized space can make your homeschool day run more smoothly!

Adjust Your Schedule

Another idea that may rejuvenate you and get you in the mood to homeschool is to adjust your schedule. Tired of doing math first thing in the morning every day? Then change it! There’s no reason you have to do math right away, especially if you feel you and your children would do better to schedule it a little later in the day. In “the real world” of college, students create their own schedule based on when they feel they’ll do best. As a homeschooler, you have the freedom to adjust your schedule any time it best suits your family life.

Start Something New

It’s almost always beneficial to start something new and add it to your daily routine! Even if it’s adding in a morning walk or starting a 10-minute evening read-aloud, adding something to your routine helps your whole day feel fresh. As long as doing so doesn’t overwhelm you, consider adding more than one thing to your day. You could add something to the morning and to the evening. This might be a good time to add in a quick workout, or it could be a good time to sit down and talk with your partner at the end of the day. Whatever it is you decide to do, do something new this new year!
