Looking For More Energy and Enthusiasm?

Homeschool ideas

Want to feel more energy and enthusiasm? Try these 5 simple things.

  • Practice some type of meditation or prayer each day. I try to start each day with some kind of meditation. Sometimes I just sit quietly, breathe deeply, and center myself. Sometimes I come up with 10 things that I am grateful for. And sometimes, especially if I’m anticipating a challenging day, I play the “magical outcomes game”. That’s where I think about the challenging or scary circumstance that’s coming up and instead of just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best, I picture in my head what I would ideally like to see happen. Try one of these easy meditations tomorrow. I think it will help you feel calmer, more positive and more in control.
  • Make this your celebration month. This month I want you to try to celebrate every single small win that you experience in your homeschooling and in your life. Sometimes we focus only on our big goals and we forget to celebrate the little wins. Celebrating the small wins makes you feel happy and motivates you to do even more. Try to celebrate in a fun way…maybe a special dessert, a fun movie night, or staying up past bedtime. Taking time to celebrate is a great habit and a wonderful investment in your happiness.
  • Want a better brain? Start your day with a better breakfast. Want more energy and a better brain to keep you going throughout your busy day? My recommendation is to start your day with a breakfast of healthy fats and protein instead of sugary carbs. Swap cereals for eggs and veggies in coconut oil and maybe even throw in a fresh green smoothie. This will keep your energy stable and will help you to be more creative and productive throughout the day.
  • Check-in with yourself. As a busy mom, becoming overwhelmed is inevitable every once in a while, which is why it is important for you to make time every couple of days to check in with yourself and re-align. How are you feeling about things? Which parts of your homeschooling are you enjoying and where are you feeling frustration? Are you enjoying your life? If not, make some little changes and get yourself back on track.
  • Check-in with your kids. Now that you have been homeschooling for a couple of weeks, it’s time for you to have one on one meetings with each of your children so that you can ask them what is working for them and where they would like to make changes. These meetings will help you foster a close relationship with your children and the meetings show that you care about and listen to what they have to say. This doesn’t mean you have to change your entire curriculum or schedule. But maybe make some little changes so that your children know they can come to you with their ideas.
